I've been a Licensed Massage Therapist for over 13 years. Let me tell you exactly what to expect from a true professional massage experience — and what not to expect.

1. This is not that kind of massage.

There are absolutely no sexual favors, harassment, or "happy endings" — ever. Licensed Massage Therapists are not your girlfriend, escort, or anything of the sort. If that’s what you're looking for, look elsewhere. Asking will never change the answer — it’s a hard NO.

2. Draping.

Draping is MANDATORY. No exceptions. Don’t ask if it’s optional — it’s not.

3. Follow the Rules.

Break either of the above rules, and your session ends immediately. And yes, you still pay full price. Period.

4. Let’s talk comfort.

Now that we've filtered out the nonsense — dress comfortably. Ladies, wear your hair up or bring something to pull it up. It helps you relax and helps us do our job better.

5. Hygiene matters.

Yes, this needs to be said. Please shower with soap and wear deodorant before your appointment. It’s basic respect.

6. Intake forms are required.

We need to know about your health to protect you and ourselves — and to provide the best care within our scope of practice. Your information is confidential, and your therapist should review it with you before beginning the session to ensure your needs are understood and met.

7. Do I have to be naked?

It depends. Some massage styles (Thai, Reiki, Chair, etc.) are done fully clothed. For table massages (Swedish, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, etc.), you undress to your comfort level — typically down to your underwear. Full undress allows the therapist to work more effectively, especially on hips and glutes, but the choice is yours.

8. Communication is key.

You don’t need to chat through your entire session — but if something feels uncomfortable, if the pressure is too much (or not enough), SPEAK UP. A good therapist will check in, and you should feel empowered to do the same. This is your session. Your input matters.

9. Pain isn’t always gain.

Some discomfort is normal during therapeutic work, but unbearable pain is not. If anything feels too intense, say something IMMEDIATELY. Every body responds differently. We’re here to help you heal — not hurt you.

10. Trust and comfort are everything.

If you can’t trust your therapist or feel comfortable with them, they’re not the right fit. Your experience, healing, and wellness journey deserve better.
